Hung Nguyen was born in Hoa Binh, Vietnam in 1959, at the beginning of Vietnam War. After the war in 1975, the country was left in a turbulent state. At the age of 22, he escaped from Vietnam on a dangerous, crude, and over-crowded boat to seek freedom and the opportunity to express himself through art. He arrived in the United States in 1981 as a refugee. In 1985, he began working as a glass sculpture artist alongside one of the best internationally acclaimed Masters of Glass Art, Hans Godo Frabel. Frabel often describes Nguyen as "...better than I am in large glass sculpting." Nguyen developed a natural talent for the creation and design of glass art over 27 years. Recognized for his exceptional skills in creating outstanding glass art pieces, Nguyen has earned the title of master of glass art. President George Bush, Mikhail Gorbachov, Sean "Diddy" Combs, Wayne Newton, and Larry King are just a few of the notable figures who own Nguyen's work. His passion for the simple elegance and beauty of Georgia's state flowers resulted in many of his sculptures being exhibited at the Atlanta Botanical Garden of Georgia and McKee Botanical Garden in Vero Beach, Florida.
