Susan Haas

Susan Haas has always been fascinated by the idea of glass, the change from liquid too solid. It creates a certain pleasure for her to pull abstract visions into pieces of tangible beauty. Susan loves being on the water — ocean, river, lake, mud puddle — it amuses her to create pieces that hark back that liquid: stable, but still full of motion. Her work is alive with bubbles and waves, sea foam and movement, some reflecting the changeable sky of sunset. With no formal training in glassblowing, she started taking classes at a studio about an hour from her home in Virginia in 2010. Through inspiration and learning from other artists at the studio Susan searches to answer her favorite question: What if?
