Athena was the city goddess of both Athens and Corinth. She was the goddess of peace and war. According to Greek mythology, she was born full grown and armored from the forehead of the king of god, Zeus, and was his favorite child. The owl was considered Athena’s sacred animal, the source of her wisdom and judgement.
