Description:
Impact Designs- Brian Bracher earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in glass from Ohio State University. Since then, he has continued his studies at three of the world's foremost glass schools: Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina, the Corning Museum's School of Glass in New York, and the Pilchuck Glass School in Washington State. Brian creates a series of large sculptural vessels that combine classical glassblowing techniques with his original contemporary colors and styling. He achieves his distinctive color combinations by using concentrated formulations of metallix oxides such as gold, silver, cobalt and others which he blends into the molten glass. Brian blows each piece freely without the use of molds on the end of a five-foot long metal blowpipe. He starts by collecting pure colored glass on the blowpipe. He then gathers layers of glass cane that are laid out ahead of time. The layers of cane are twisted to create a woven effect on teh surface of the vessel. The entire piece is then encased in clear crystal for added brilliance and smooth surface. Brian's work has been shown in museums, galleries, and exhibitions throughout the United States and is included in numerous private collections.
